Cardiff West Community High School is seeking an experienced and strategic Business Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our vibrant and ambitious learning community.

The Role
As Business Manager, you will be a full member of the Senior Leadership Team, working closely with the Headteacher and Governors to ensure the effective leadership and management of the school’s business functions. You will provide strategic oversight and operational leadership across finance, human resources, catering and estates, ensuring best value for money and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
You will also:
•Hold full line management responsibility for all non-teaching staff
•Act as strategic financial adviser to the Governing Body, including being a co opted member for financial matters
•Lead budget planning, monitoring and reporting across official and private funds
•Oversee all aspects of HR administration, payroll liaison, DBS processes and staff wellbeing for support staff
•Contribute to long-term strategic planning, school improvement and the identification of funding opportunities, including grants and bids
•Play a full part in the wider life, ethos and community of the school
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a highly organised, proactive and strategic leader who:
•Has a recognised management or business qualification (or equivalent experience)
•Demonstrates strong financial and people management expertise
•Has the ability to influence, advise and challenge at senior and governance level
•Is committed to public service, equality of opportunity and safeguarding
•Thrives in a fast paced educational environment and enjoys working collaboratively
A background in school business management and relevant financial qualifications are desirable, but not essential for the right candidate.
