Travel Coordinator and Business Development Support BGS Business Development Grade: UKRI - Band C Salary: £29,923 per annum Contract Type: Open ended Hours: Full time 37 hours a week (some flexible working options may be available, including a small amount of remote working, in line with BGS policy) Location: BGS headquarters in Keyworth in Nottingham Closing date: 31st August 2025 A great benefits package is offered About the role We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated outward facing individual to be our Travel Coordinator and Business Development Support.You will be responsible for the management of our permission to travel system, ensuring appropriate plans are in place for all BGS travellers.You will work with the Business Development (BD) team and BGS scientists advising on travel policy and supporting the BD team who lead on income generating activities for BGS. The post requires someone capable of being highly responsive. The ideal candidate should be a highly self-motivated and self-starting individual who seeks to take advantage of the opportunity to develop their business and organisational skills. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisation skills. About you With experience of a customer focused role, you will also need to be flexible, demonstrate the ability to be decisive when faced with key information and be able to demonstrate methods of managing role-based pressure and skills to satisfy customer needs. You are expected to be proficient in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and Word and be willing to learn new systems. The following specific essential and desirable skills criteria for this post will be assessed at shortlist (S) stage, interview (I) stage, or both (S&I). Essential Educated to A-Level or level 3 apprentice qualification standard. GCSEs to include pass in English and Maths (S) Experience working in an office administrative role (S/I) Experience in analysing data and critical review of documents/files (S/I) Demonstrate methods of managing role-based pressure including prioritise work, adapt to changing priorities and ability to meet tight deadlines. (S/I) Experience of presenting written materials appropriately for a senior audience (S/I) You will be committed to a diverse and inclusive approach to work in the geosciences (S&I) Effective written communication skills and excellent attention to detail (S/I) Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team showing empathy with the needs of the business and colleagues (S/I) Desirable Proficiency in corporate, travel and tender based systems e.g. Oracle Fusion, ClarityGo, ISOS, Find a Tender, etc. (S/I) Experience in travel coordination role, understanding of international travel processes, risk, assistance and resolution (S/I) Experience in BD administration environment (S/I) The closing date for receipt of applications is 31st August 2025.
