About YouAs the Merchandiser, you are responsible for ensuring that stock is in the right place at the right time, hitting all strategic targets along the way. You will work closely with the buying team to achieve a range that is both on brand and hits margin targets. You will use your strong analytical skills to plan and react to whatever scenario is thrown at you. You will have a love for numbers as well as being able to communicate effectively with the wider team as well as external suppliers. You will report into the Head of Merchandising and have an AM to manage and an MAA to support with administrative tasks.Main Duties and responsibilities As Merchandiser your key responsibilities are:Work with the Buying, Design and Product Tech teams to plan and create the product ranges for the softlines department every seasonProduce category budgets, using analysis of past sales figures and trends to help where appropriateSupport the buyers in developing and implementing a good, better, best range within a comprehensive price architectureStrategically plan and manage intake & OTB per season to its optimised levelUpdate & maintain category WSSIs. Provide updates and recommendations to the Head of Merchandising based on findingsSupport buying with direct sourcing, cross-costing exercises & achieving margin targetsCreate and monitor department KPIs including revenue, markdown, margin, ASP and profit alongside the Head of MerchandisingCreate the department promotion plan and ensure it is executed across the businessDevelop positive, close working relationships across the wider business as well as with external suppliersConstantly analyse and review sales data and react dynamically where requiredWork across the business to ensure that the critical path is implemented and adhered to each seasonPrepare and participate in weekly trade meetingsSupport the Head of Merchandising and MAA with logistics planning and queriesSupport our partnerships team with range planning and sales data for concessions and marketplacesManage and mentor the Assistant Merchandiser to support their developmentSkills and KnowledgeThe Merchandiser is expected to have the following skills and knowledge4 years+ Experience in a similar Merchandising roleExcellent numerical and analytical skillsAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft ExcelCommercial, strategic and creative all-round thinkerExcellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the businessLocationHybrid with 2 to 3 days in office.Benefits25 days holiday (increasing to 28 with service) + Bank HolidaysEnhanced Maternity & Paternity PaySummer Hours (3pm finish every Friday in June, July & August)2 Volunteer Days per yearBirthday Day off (in addition to your holiday allowance)Early finish on paydayStaff DiscountFree onsite parking
