Job summary
A bank opportunity has become available within our Income function within the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust Finance Team. This role will support the Head of Income coordinating & delivering the monthly reporting cycle in line with the contractual requirements.
Main duties of the job
Co-ordinate the collection of all activity and cost information to allow calculation of clinical income. Working closely with Information Department, Clinical Coding and clinical teams.
Process the activity (monthly) through a clinical income software package to calculate the Trust's clinical income applying the Payment by Results (PbR) rules.
Analyse, investigate and resolve financial queries and discrepancies
Preparation of monthly reports (internal and external) on the actual v's planned activity and income for the reporting period. This includes a written report on reasons for variances.
Liaise with information and clinical colleagues to ensure all necessary data is captured and data quality is refined.

* AAT Qualified or hold a degree in a finance related discipline or equivalent work based knowledge.
Desirable
* Prepared to study (or already studying) for further finance qualification (e.g. CIMA)
Experience Essential
* Experience with manipulating large Excel data files
* Current Financial Legislation
* Demonstrable understanding of financial management
Desirable
* Good understanding of NHS Trust financial framework, sound grasp of accounting techniques and principles (especially as they apply to the NHS), and sound understanding of Trust accounting systems
