At East Suffolk Services, we’re at an interesting point in our story.
On the surface, we ensure services keep running, waste collected, streets cleaned, parks maintained, and much more. But underneath that is something more powerful: 500 people, showing up every day to make a visible difference to the communities we serve.
And as we grow, the question isn’t what do we do next? Its who do we need to become to get there?
That’s where this role comes in.
We’re looking for an Organisational Development Director to shape the everyday experiences that define how this organisation feels to work in.
You will sit at the heart of the business, working as part of the senior leadership team to create a culture where people thrive and performance follows. You’ll define our approach to leadership development, talent strategy, organisational design, and cultural transformation.
This role is about operationalising strategies and embedding them within the business to ensure they stick, drive real impact, and shape the future of our growing, people-first organisation.
You’ll sit at the heart of the business, working with our senior team to design and embed an approach to:
* Developing and delivering a clear, compelling OD strategy aligned to our business goals.
* Shaping our leadership capability to build confident, accountable, and inspiring leaders.
* Driving a high-performance, values-led culture that people genuinely want to be part of.
* Leading talent, succession, and workforce planning to support our continued growth.
* Supporting organisational design and change initiatives across the business.
* Championing engagement, inclusion, and wellbeing in a way that feels authentic rather than overly corporate.
* Using data and insight to continuously improve how we develop our people.
Qualifications and Experience
* A proven leader who’s comfortable operating at both strategic and hands‑on levels.
* Experience in a commercial, operational environment (multi-site or frontline workforce is a plus).
* Someone who can influence, challenge, and build trust at senior levels.
* A natural collaborator who brings energy, curiosity, and fresh thinking.
* Strong track record of delivering meaningful cultural and organisational change.
* A genuine belief that great businesses are built on great people.
