The Austrian Alpine Club UK is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our office team to maintain, have creative input, and optimise the club's website and social media presence. The role combines the responsibilities of a website and social media manager, a communications specialist, and a digital skills liaison.
About AAC(UK): The Austrian Alpine Club (UK) is the British Section of the sterreichischer Alpenverein (AV). It is one of the largest mountaineering clubs in the UK with over 18,000 members, and the Alpenverein is the largest mountaineering club in Austria with 196 Sections and over 725,000 members.
The aims of the Club are: To promote and support mountaineering, alpine sports, and walking; to encourage participation in activities offered to Members; to maintain the beauty and unspoiled character of mountain landscapes; to protect nature and the environment; and to strengthen ties between the Club Members and Austria.

Key responsibilities include:
1. With support from the communications team, ensure our online presence—including website, social media, email marketing, and digital advertising—reflects the club's strategic goals.
2. Maintain and contribute creatively to the club's website (system: Weblication).
3. Maintain and update the website activity programme.
4. Prepare monthly e-newsletters in line with communications team requirements.
5. Collaborate with club volunteers to design and distribute emails using their Content Management System, Weblication.
6. Develop, schedule, and maintain engaging social media content.
7. Utilise social media management tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Linktr.ee) and graphic design software (e.g., Canva).
8. Ensure consistent messaging across channels to promote club updates, activities, or services (using Monday.com).
9. Respond to comments, messages, and engage with followers on social media.
10. Manage social media accounts, monitor trends, and stay up to date with platform best practices.
11. Act as an intermediary between the club's IT provider and the club’s needs.
12. Onboard new team members and volunteers, providing access to club systems such as SharePoint.
13. Have good working knowledge of the club's membership system and benefits.
14. Assist with membership processing and field inquiries during peak times.
Key skills and experience:
* Proficiency in communication tools and platforms; familiarity with website platforms (e.g., WordPress), CMS management, social media management tools.
* Excellent digital skills to support club volunteers and liaise with the IT provider.
* Competent use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Copywriting and editing proficiency; experience with tools like Grammarly or immersive reader is advantageous.
* Strategic thinking to understand the club's facets and communication strategy.
* Project management skills to handle multiple projects, timelines, and budgets.
* Interpersonal skills to build relationships with colleagues, members, and volunteers, and understanding of User Experience (UX).
* Adaptability to changing environments and communication needs.
* Content creation and updating skills for website and social media.
* Ability to work to deadlines while producing high-quality, accurate work.
(Desirable) Knowledge of the German language.
(Desirable) An interest in outdoor activities in the UK and abroad.
