Materials Controller | Ascend Airways
Full Time - London Gatwick Airport
Ascend Airways operates a small fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft (NG and MAX) in the ACMI market and opened its first operational base at London Gatwick in early 2024. The company is founded on the legacy of Synergy Aviation, a respected UK AOC holder, acquired by Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI provider with over 200 airliners in operation.
Role Overview
The Material Controller will be responsible for the procurement and logistics of aircraft requirements, including AOG and ADD demands, as well as routine stock purchasing. This includes, but is not limited to, rotables, expendables, consumables, and general purchasing. The role also involves supporting logistics tasks such as goods receipt, stock transfers, dispatch, shipping, and transaction auditing.
Candidate Attributes and Experience
* Minimum 2 years' experience in aviation stores or purchasing
* Knowledge of shipping requirements, including DG
* Understanding of aviation component documentation and acceptance standards
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and aviation parts platforms
* Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently
* Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with colleagues and vendors
* Strong operational awareness and problem-solving skills for logistics challenges
* Clean driving license and ability to obtain a full airside pass
Responsibilities
1. Coordinate with Maintenance Control to ensure timely sourcing and availability of parts for scheduled maintenance, AOG, and deferred defects
2. Update store systems with component and material paperwork when items are stocked and available
3. Manage exchange/rotable cores and loan components, ensuring return to suppliers as per contractual requirements
4. Process parts, tooling, and equipment into the Stores System following regulatory and company procedures
5. Coordinate transportation of parts, materials, and tooling between line stations and suppliers
6. Maintain understanding of store procedures, supply contracts, and interface agreements
7. Return rotable cores and unused spares from operational stations to vendors
8. Identify and process Dangerous Goods with proper paperwork and packaging
9. Work with Accounts to ensure invoice processing compliance
10. Conduct internal and station store audits for stock control
11. Manage stock levels, replenishment, and usage review
