This role offers an excellent opportunity to get involved in and become part of the world of online learning. About the role We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our Finance team. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end payroll processes for our UK employees. You will also work with external providers to process payroll in the USA and Canada. Your primary focus will be on ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing and compliance with statutory regulations. This role requires an understanding of UK payroll legislation, attention to detail, and the ability to handle complex payroll scenarios. You will play a key role in maintaining payroll accuracy and providing exceptional service to our employees. For more information about our benefits and why you should join learning pool, read more here: https://learningpool.com/why-work-for-learning-pool/ Location: Hybrid, based in the Derry office with expectation of regular attendance What you will be doing Roles and responsibilities include: Managing the end-to-end payroll process for UK employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments. Processing UK payroll including all new starters, leavers, absence, statutory leave and pay along with other manual adjustments as required Calculating and processing statutory deductions, including income tax, National Insurance contributions, and pension contributions. Preparing and filing payroll taxes Staying updated with UK payroll legislation and compliance requirements, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations. Overseeing the administration of employee pension schemes, including enrolment, contributions, and liaison with pension providers. Reviewing and validating payroll inputs, including salaries, benefits, allowances, and deductions. Collaborating with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate employee data management. Coordinating year-end payroll processes, including the production of annual P60s and P11D forms. Handling payroll-related inquiries from employees, addressing concerns and providing accurate information. Preparing and posting monthly payroll journals to Netsuite. Conducting monthly payroll reconciliations and resolving any discrepancies or errors. Working alongside external payroll providers to process payroll in the USA and Canada. Ad hoc analysis on payroll related data as required by the Finance and FP&A teams. Approving and processing monthly expense claims. Outside of payroll there will be a requirement to support other Finance duties as required, for example assisting with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes. Who we are looking for The candidate will demonstrate: A proven track record: You will have previous experience in a role where you have been responsible for end to end payroll for a minimum of 2 years. Technical experience: You will be extremely comfortable with technology, utilising payroll systems to process and report on payroll. Sage payroll experience would be preferred. Communications: You will have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to communicate complex information in a straightforward and understandable way. Attention to detail: You will have an appreciation for and a strong commitment to the need for accuracy in the payments to the team, reporting to the business and statutory recording. Critical thinking: You will have excellent analytical skills with the ability to use data and expertise to logically and creatively assist stakeholders with their queries and business challenges. Organisational skills: You will have excellent time management skills with the ability to organise, prioritise and execute on multiple tasks, taking accountability for delivering on promises. Delivering with others: You will have experience of dealing with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders, working together to ensure accuracy and timeliness in payroll processing. Adaptability: You will have experience of working in a dynamic environment where you have been comfortable with change. You have a positive and agile mindset, asking "What can we do to make this happen?" rather than "I don't know how this would work?"
