Data and Insights Team

The Data and Insights team, part of the Digital capability, led by the Head of Digital, provides expert analysis and data insights, digitisation strategy, and operational optimisation advice to clients within a fast‑moving global environment. Team members work – often independently – with clients on complex technology challenges, onsite and remotely.

Job Overview / Introduction

The Consultant – Data Analyst collaborates within cross‑functional teams to deliver client projects. This role involves gathering, structuring and analysing data from diverse sources, developing robust tools and models, and applying advanced analytical techniques to meet project requirements. The consultant provides independent expert advice to identify and solve analytical challenges, enhance business efficiency and maximise value and profitability. Working closely with clients’ senior leadership and support staff, the consultant contributes to decision‑support products, digital strategies, process optimisation and technology solutions.


Primary Roles And Responsibilities

* Understand and help project teams apply analytical methods, advise on techniques and critique findings to ensure best practice.
* Listen to, understand, interpret, prioritise stakeholder needs, manage expectations, proactively engage and communicate with them, and support or host discussions with the team and senior stakeholders.
* Implement data governance and management standards within the team’s products and services, ensuring quality and consistency.
* Build and review data models, use data integration tools and languages to integrate and store data, and advise teams on best practice.
* Set up systems internally and externally to pull data from different sources and store it efficiently, adhering to security and compliance guidelines.
* Apply statistical and analytic practices, developing deeper knowledge in specific specialisms.
* Apply standards and best practices to present and disseminate data appropriately using visualisation tools.
* Share knowledge of data and technology with the wider team and external stakeholders, enabling skill growth.
* Work in an Agile manner, collaborating closely with clients and colleagues to iterate and deliver solutions.
* Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive culture.
* Assist the Head of Digital in developing Squarcle’s Digital and Data capabilities.
* Conduct performance reviews and appraisals for direct reports.
* Conduct research to identify trends, benchmarks and industry standards for project types.
* Work with Project and Technical Leads to understand project requirements and implement suitable models.
* Implement Model Verification and Validation (V&V) to increase capability development.


Secondary Roles And Responsibilities

* Support business development activities, including pursuit development and thought‑leadership papers.
* Contribute to continuous improvement by driving innovation in service offerings and participating in team events, training and recruitment activities.
* Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager.
* Deputise for the Manager during periods of absence.


Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience

* BSc/BA in a numerate or technical field such as maths, economics or bioinformatics.
* Exceptional problem‑solving skills – analytical, innovative and creative mindset.
* Experience delivering analytical and digital solutions that create enduring client value.
* Experience designing, building or operating deterministic models.
* Awareness of industry standards and benchmarks.
* Well‑developed core consulting skills: research, analysis, presentation and attention to detail.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.
* Aptitude to grasp new concepts and produce results rapidly.
* Self‑directed and capable of contributing to team capability development.
* Intellectual curiosity, strong work ethic and a team‑player attitude.
* Ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and think creatively to solve client issues.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Suite – Excel, PowerBI and PowerPoint.
* Successful candidates must meet the security requirements (Security Check – SC) before appointment.


Desirable

* Cloud technology qualifications (Azure preferably).
* Low‑Code technology experience – Microsoft PowerApps, Power BI, Visio.
* Project Management Qualification – Prince2, APM, Agile, Scrum etc.
* Understanding of supply chain.
* Coding or software development experience – Python, DAX, VBA.
* Experience using SQL databases.
* Experience supporting data engineering.

Important Information

This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and obtain a Security Check (SC) security clearance. The clearance must be obtained without any caveats; otherwise conditional offers can be withdrawn.
