Role Overview
We are looking for a knowledgeable, dedicated, and forward‑thinking individual for this exciting role in paediatric radiation oncology.
Working Hours & Location
This post is 40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, covering early, mid and late shifts (7 am‑7 pm) with occasional weekend and night shifts. It is based at the Proton Beam Therapy Centre, The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, Manchester.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the clinical care of paediatric patients at The Christie as part of the paediatric MDT.
* Directly oversee paediatric patients treated with photon and proton radiotherapy, and other treatments such as total body irradiation and radioiodine.
* Respond to paediatric emergencies and manage paediatric crash bleep.
* Conduct on‑treatment reviews for paediatric proton and photon patients and manage radiotherapy toxicities.
* Participate in paediatric MDT meetings and collaborate with clinical oncologists, advanced nurse practitioners, nursing staff, anesthetists, play specialists, radiographers and keyworkers.
* Maintain close working relationships with the Royal Manchester Children Hospital (RMCH) paediatric oncology team and liaise appropriately with other professionals.
* Allocate dedicated time for research tailored to your interests, including participation in Proton Seminars, Proton Research Community, PBT Journal Clubs, PBT fellows teaching, proton late effects clinics and paediatric outpatient clinics.
* Contribute to the delivery of high‑quality consultant‑led care across 7 days, including participation in planned weekend and weekday clinical activity to support safe, timely decision‑making and continuity of care.
Support & Collaboration
You will be supported by consultant clinical oncologists and the RMCH Paediatric Oncology team.
