Overview
The Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, Faculty of Law, is seeking to recruit a Communications Officer to support all aspects of internal and external communications at the Institute. The post reports to the Institute Manager and supports the Institute's Director, Head of Research, Programmes Manager and Principal Investigators (PIs), researchers and academics based at the Institute. The Communications Officer will also be a member of the wider communications team at the Faculty of Law, led by the Head of Communications. There are opportunities for training and career development while in post.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement a communications strategy for the Bonavero Institute and ensure day-to-day delivery of communications activities aligned with the strategy.
* Demonstrate proactive problem-solving and participate in collaborative decision-making regarding communications.
* Conduct detailed evaluation and analysis of communications tools and practices to enable ongoing improvement and meaningful engagement with all stakeholders.
* Produce and edit reports (such as the Annual Highlights report) and other factual documentation to support informed decision-making for future communications initiatives.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Experience in content writing for digital platforms and demonstrable experience of using social media in a professional setting.
* Ability to assess existing communication channels for effectiveness and suggest alternative or new methods for broader dissemination.
* Ability to analyse complex research content and extract key themes or insights that can be communicated clearly to a wider audience.
* Experience with content management systems for websites.
* Desirable: experience of communicating research or policy in one or more areas relevant to the project (e.g., human rights, climate change, modern slavery) and experience of working within a large and complex higher education setting.
Employment details
* Permanent, part-time role (0.5 FTE); hybrid working with on-site presence required; based at the Bonavero Institute for Human Rights, Mansfield College, Oxford.
