Offer description

An opportunity has arisen for a part-time Patient Administrator to join Cambrian Medical Centre; working a minimum of 23 hours per week fixed term for 12 months; working within a busy but friendly admin team supporting clinicians to deliver high quality care to patients.


Main duties of the job

The candidate must be able to demonstrate strong customer service skills as you will be required to ensure an effective and efficient service is provided to patients either face to face or by telephone; computer literate; providing support with online triage of appointments; dealing with general enquiries and prescription requests. You will need to be enthusiastic, hardworking and flexible. You will be a self-starter, organised, reliable and an excellent communicator. Confidentiality to be maintained at all times.

Cambrian Medical Centre is a busy but friendly GP Practice within the North Shropshire Primary Care Network, with approximately 13,500patients. We are proud to have a great clinical and administrative team working together to achieve the highest quality of care for our patients. Our administrationteam plays a vital role in our patients journey from first point of contact.


Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities that can be expected of the role. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

To answer telephone calls and reception desk queries promptly and professionally.

To coordinate appointment requests via the online consultation triage.

To resolve a wide variety of patient queries received by telephone, in person and in writing. Including: prescriptions, medications, service contacts, specialist referrals, test results, scans and x-rays.

Identify urgent matters and refer to the clinical team / triage doctor as appropriate.

To accurately update and monitor patient records including, booking appointments, patient registrations, change of address.

To deal with patient concerns and complaints in a calm and professional manner.

To assist with routine monitoring and recalls for clinics. Using telephone calls, text messages and letter writing.

To liaise with other healthcare professionals, secretaries and administration teams with regards to coordinating patient care.

To assist with incoming/outgoing post, scanning and recording of clinical information on patients medical records.

To keep up to date with practice information including policy and procedure changes, staff rotas and service provisions.

To work as a positive and supportive team member, providing cover for similar posts as required.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* GCSE grade A to C or eqvilalent in Maths & English


Experience

* Experience of working in a busy environment.
* Experience of working in the NHS.
* Experience of working in a GP practice.
* Able to use clinical information systems.
