An exciting opportunity has arisen for a ward manager to cover maternity leave within the Community, Frailty and Therapy Care Group at Scunthorpe and Grimsby, this role will be an in-patient role within the Trust.

The role will offer an opportunity to be integral to the ever growing transformation and redesign of community services to meet the needs of our population and looking at new ways to support people to be cared for in the community.

We are seeking a ward manager to lead and ensure delivery of safe and effective services (portfolios to be determined) and integrated working across community services to support the development of robust safe pathways and ensuring patients have the right access to right services at the right time.

We are looking for individuals who are highly skilled, motivated, and proactive and have proven clinical and people management skills. Main duties of the job

The ward manager will support the Care Group Matron in providing dynamic, professional and and leadership for the ward

The post holder will facilitate, support and empower the department to manage their areas effectively, supporting the development of their staff and their services to ensure appropriate systems and processes are in place to ensure the continuity of safe and effective care at all times.

They will support the delivery of the Trust’s overall objectives and service priorities, with a particular focus on nursing and midwifery practice, patient experience and involvement in the development of services and standards of cleanliness and quality care.

They will be accountable for the delivery of quality indicators and are responsible for quality streams based on national nursing good practice and local quality indicators. Maintaining compliance with, and develops policies, procedures and guidelines.

They will be accessible and have a visible presence on the ward advising and supporting colleagues, patients and their families to ensure effective patient care across the whole patient pathway. They will ensure the provision of specialist education and training.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria

1. •Level 1 Registered Nurse
2. •Diploma in nursing or evidence of recent relevant CPD at diploma level
3. •Evidence of post-registration development in the relevant specialty
4. •Management qualification
5. •Leadership qualification

Desirable criteria

6. •Degree
7. •Post Graduate – Critical Care Qualification

Occupational experience and abilities

Essential criteria

8. •Minimum 4 years post registration experience with 2 years at Band 6
9. •Experience of managing a team or area within a ward/department
10. •Experience of holding unit/hospital bleep
11. •Expert clinical skills/knowledge within the specialty
12. •Leadership skills
13. •Able to apply HR policies/processes relevant to managing people
14. •Understanding of ‘Improving Working Lives’
