About the role:

The HSEQ Advisor role is spent primarily on sites as the eyes, ears and voice of HSEQ within the business. Conducting internal audits, attending site meetings and supporting the site teams in ensuring the Health and Safety of those at risk from our work.


Some of this can be done from home but most of the work requires site presence and occasionally working nights or weekends. We are a multi-site business with the majority of the projects happening in London. Frequent travel to these sites is a key part of the role.


The HSEQ advisor is the main contact for the site teams and a trusted colleague on HSEQ matters. The role requires close working relationships with project managers and front-line workers. Ensuring they have all the support they need to effectively manage HSEQ on their sites.


Group Metropolitan Limited believe in the process of continual progression and development. A Health and Safety related qualification is required but all other qualifications or membership will be developed on appointment of this position. Experience, Skills and Cultural fit are considered a priority.


This is considered a medium technical skill role with the support and mentorship of a senior HSEQ professional. There is an expectation of a reasonable level of the skills below, but a development plan will be agreed to close out any gaps and continually improve skills.

Roles & Responsibilities

* Support local management with the HSEQ of multiple projects
* Identify and initiate improvements to HSEQ.
* Provide guidance, advice and direction to resolve any major issue and satisfy business HSEQ requirements.
* Promote Group Metropolitan objectives and support their completion across the business.
* Support management in the development of Health and Safety related documents such as risk assessments and construction phase plans.
* Manage and investigate all incidents and accidents occurring within your scope.
* Plan, monitor and control the internal audit programme for HSEQ.
* Manage and review the management system that is within your scope.
* Ensure that HSEQ standards are consistently achieved, maintained and reported through regular communications.
* Ensure that all invoicing and ordering is passed through line management for central processing.
* To work as part of HSEQ team to support the business needs.
* To monitor and support the HSEQ compliance of multiple projects line with legal, regulatory and business requirements.


Experience

* A minimum of 2 years supporting HSEQ management in a multi-site business
* Experience working in a construction or M&E related industry


Qualifications

* Nebosh Certificate (Construction preferred)
* Technical Member of IOSH (Preferred)
* ISO Internal Auditing Certificate (Preferred)


Skills

* A good understanding of the requirements of managing HSEQ in an M&E environment.
* A good understanding of the requirements of CDM 2015.
* A passion for Health and Safety.
* The ability to self-manage time and resources.
* A proven ability to manage people with the goal for a positive Health and Safety Culture.
* The ability to communicate and work effectively with clients, employees and teams at site levels.
* A high level of focus on the achievement of targeted results and high quality standards.
* A good level of awareness of the Legal, Regulatory and statutory requirements of the business in regards to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality.
* A good appreciation of modern business processes and a commitment to best practice, innovation and change.
* A good knowledge of best practice within the M&E or construction industry.
* A good working knowledge of office based IT systems.
* A good attention to detail.
