Care Flow Navigator - Emergency Department

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Emergency Department team working as part of the Administration team in either of the following locations: Front Door Assessment and Streaming Service (FDASS), Ambulance Assessment (AMT) or Minor Injuries Unit (MIU). The role involves patient support and administration services, including patient registration, coordinating the direction and flow of walk‑in patients, processing patient documentation and records, reception duties, handling telephone enquiries, ordering transport for patients, and booking patient appointments.

The ideal candidate is a confident communicator at all levels, displaying outstanding customer‑care skills. Excellent keyboard skills and the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure are essential.

Key responsibilities include carrying out all administrative processes connected with patients’ attendance in the Department and their further treatment, transfer and discharge.

This vacancy covers both Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Mexborough Montague sites. Shifts will be scheduled via a roster over a 24/7 period, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis. Cross‑site working will also be required where necessary.


Main duties of the job

* Greet all patients politely and friendly.
* Register and direct patients using appropriate guidelines via one of the following: ED Streamer, Front Door Assessment & Streaming Service (FDASS) or Ambulance Assessment (AMT).
* Support patients to use the ED streaming tool to ensure they are in the correct location and require the Emergency Department, redirecting if not.
* Assist patients in using the navigation iPads.
* Work with the navigation nurse to complete the patient navigation process in line with Standard Operating Procedures.

* Basic keyboard skills
* Good general education to GCSE level or equivalent
