Join Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Specialist Pharmacist – Paediatrics and Adult Neurosciences. We offer a unique part‑time opportunity of 3 days a week in the paediatric team and 2‑day a week in the adult neurosciences team.

A unique opportunity has arisen to join us as a specialist pharmacist, working 3 days a week in the paediatric team and 2 days a week in the adult neurosciences team. Our band 7 pharmacist roles allow you to build on your foundation knowledge and move into highly specialist areas.

Main duties of the job

* Liaison with the directorate pharmacy team lead and the rest of the multidisciplinary team to ensure adherence to guidelines and new product reviews.
* Identify, review and implement processes, policies and procedures that significantly improve the cost‑effective use of medication within the clinical area.
* Provide a comprehensive medication review and clinical pharmacy service to the neurosciences and paediatric clinical areas.
* Work closely with the directorate pharmacy team leads for neurosciences and paediatrics.
* Ensure accurate patient medication records are updated and maintained.
* Monitor prescribing and drug expenditure, providing regular evaluated management reports and advising on cost containment.
* Support the pharmacy developments already started and agree priorities with the neurosciences and paediatrics clinical pharmacy teams.
* Support the development, implementation and management of givinostat and vamarinol for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy via home‑care and outpatient setting.

Person specification


Qualifications

* Masters Degree (4‑year MPharm or equivalent) in Pharmacy.
* Registered as a pharmacist with the GPhC.
* Post‑graduate certificate in Pharmacy Practice and completion of the required diploma, or equivalent external credentialing via CPPE/RPS.
* Post‑graduate diploma/MSc in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent experience/qualification.
* Completion of a formal leadership programme.


Experience

* Direct patient care in more than one clinical setting.
* Working with other health‑care professionals.
* Communicating complex information via multiple methods to a variety of recipients.
* Quality improvement, service evaluation or audit experience.
* Mentoring and training others in a healthcare setting.
* Taking the lead in a team or project.
* Hospital experience in more than one setting or clinical area.
* Experience in pharmaceutical care of patients in critical care or enhanced care setting.
* Appreciation of funding streams for medicines budgets.
* Demonstrating measurable outcomes from quality or service improvement.
* Preparation of protocols or guidelines.


Key details

Probationary period: 6 months, unless you already hold a contract of employment with OUH.

Closing date: 27 October 2025 23:59.

Salary: £47,810 – £54,710 per annum (pro‑rata).

Contract: Permanent, full time – 37.5 hours per week.
