We are passionate about applying psychology to support the learning, development and emotional wellbeing of children and young people. Our service vision for working with children and young people is ambitious; we believe that every young person should have the opportunity to thrive, to be fully included and to help them reach their potential.
Our service provides professional psychological services for children, young people, and families in a wide range of educational settings across the city. Joining one of our inclusive and friendly teams means working alongside over 50 HCPC registered educational psychologists, many of whom have a range of specialisms and interests.
We are proud of our large Assistant Psychologist team based in our four locality teams, who support team delivery.
We also have close ties with University Educational Psychology training courses and provide a large number of placements for trainee colleagues whether it be time limited Fieldwork A or B placements, or Year 2 and 3 Trainees based in one of our four locality teams.
We also have a pool of Associate EP colleagues who support our statutory commitments and who are highly valued within our service.
The service has strong and positive relationships with the local authority, with schools and partner agencies. We are well integrated into the broader systems of support for vulnerable children and young people and their families in the city.
The Educational Psychology Service has an excellent reputation and has a strong commitment to innovation, quality improvement, research and development. We are engaged in a variety of initiatives such as ‘SCERTS’, ELSA, VIG, VERP, MeLSA, Trauma Informed Attachment Aware Schools and Restorative Practice.
Our EPs have the freedom to engage in a range of work at the individual, small/ whole group, staff, parent, or systemic level. We are not a prescriptive service and value the diversity of approach each of our psychologists.
We are committed to promoting professional development at all levels, with opportunities to take on leadership roles within the service for those aspiring to become managers. We are also a friendly and highly supportive service where collaboration and peer supervision are actively encouraged.
** Applicants must be HCPC registered Educational Psychologists and / or Trainee EPs who are currently in Years 2 or 3 of their Doctoral course **
