The role:
The role is to work with our freight forwarding operative to assist with coordinating the logistics of moving goods from origin to destination, acting as an intermediary between shippers and carriers using container shipments, air freight and road transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Logistics Planning: Researching and selecting the most efficient routes, modes of transport, negotiating with carriers for rates and managing transportation costs on behalf of the client
* Documentation Management: Preparing, checking, and processing all required documents, including customs forms, commercial invoices, certificates of origin and bills of lading
* Compliance: Complying documents for test inspection reports in our warehouse from suppliers and dealing with end user for approvals.
* Customs Clearance: Organizing and managing the customs clearance process, ensuring compliance with regulations in different countries
* Freight Consolidation & Tracking: Combining multiple small shipments into larger, more cost-effective units for transport. Providing real-time updates on the movement of goods from the point of origin to the final destination
* Additional Services: Arranging for services such as warehousing, cargo insurance, and inland transportation
* Communication: Maintaining close communication with clients, suppliers, and carriers to ensure seamless shipment coordination. Building and maintaining relationships with the internal operations teams and managers
* Continuous Improvement: Share any service issues and propose and implement improvement strategies, sharing these through regular progress meetings and weekly reports.
Key Requirements:
* Freight Forwarding Experience: Knowledge of the freight forwarding operations is a distinct advantage with experience and contacts within the industry
* Organizational Skills: The ability to manage complex logistics and plan intricate journeys
* Attention to detail: Strong attention to detail is essential for the production and checking of shipping documents
* IT Proficiency: Utilizing IT systems and Microsoft packages for planning, tracking, and managing shipments
* Communication Skills: Effectively communicating with a wide range of clients and service providers
* Problem-Solving Skills: Identifying and resolving issues that may arise during the shipping process
* Negotiation Skills: Securing favourable rates and terms from carriers
* Knowledge of Regulations: Staying informed about customs laws and international trade regulations
* Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of relevant legislation, standards, and the ability to ensure compliance. Exposure to maintaining health and safety standards.

Pay: £25,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
