Team Leader Engineering
We are partnering with a leading FMCG manufacturing business to recruit an experienced Engineering Team Leader. This is a permanent, site-based role, reporting to the Department Engineering Manager, with responsibility for leading a team of engineers to deliver a high-quality, reliable service across the site.
About the Role
As Engineering Team Leader, you will take ownership of the day-to-day management of the engineering function within Fresh or Chilled operations. You will be accountable for achieving all engineering KPIs, managing the departmental budget, motivating your team, and ensuring a robust service to all other departments. You will also play a key role in health & safety compliance, continuous improvement initiatives, and capital projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, motivate, and develop a team of engineers to achieve departmental objectives.
* Manage daily engineering operations, including PPM, breakdown repairs, and maintenance schedules.
* Support and deliver continuous improvement and lean initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
* Oversee health and safety compliance for all contractors and engineering staff.
* Participate in capital projects and contribute to the development of the site engineering strategy.
* Liaise with other departments to deliver solutions and provide feedback on engineering activities.
* Represent the engineering team during site audits and customer visits, demonstrating technical knowledge and compliance.
* Provide hands-on support when required, including flexible work patterns to meet business needs.
Requirements
* Proven experience managing an engineering team within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
* Strong knowledge of continuous improvement, cost control, and health & safety.
* Hands-on leadership approach with excellent interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of engineering systems, PPM, and metal detection processes advantageous.
* Relevant engineering qualification (HND or equivalent desirable).
