Description and Requirements
Lenovo is seeking an HPC System Administrator to join our Professional Services team, supporting high-performance computing (HPC) environments for leading research and enterprise customers. This permanent role is open in both Romania and the UK, with a primary focus on remote work and occasional on-site visits (approximately once per month). The ideal candidate will have strong Linux and HPC skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the flexibility to participate in a weekend standby rotation (standard business hours, compensated). Key Responsibilities
1. Monitor, maintain, and manage the physical and virtual infrastructure of HPC data centers, ensuring reliability and security.
2. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues, including OS management and upgrades.
3. Serve as the customer’s Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for technical support, providing timely responses and solutions.
4. Perform daily system administration tasks, including user access management and defect resolution.
5. Implement and support HPC solutions at customer sites, covering server, storage, network, OS, and cluster management software.
6. Collaborate with vendors, internal teams, and customer stakeholders to design, implement, and upgrade services.
7. Participate in a weekend standby rotation (standard business hours, approximately 1–2 weekends per month, compensated).
8. Maintain and update system documentation, monthly reporting, and contribute to service reviews and knowledge sharing.
Position Requirements
9. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
10. 2+ years of experience in Linux system administration SUSE, RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) and HPC environments.
11. Proficiency in troubleshooting, monitoring, and supporting HPC systems and data center infrastructure.
12. Experience with tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and cluster management software is highly desirable.
13. Strong customer service skills, including written and verbal communication in English (mandatory); additional languages are a plus.
14. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote, international team environment.
15. Flexibility to participate in a weekend standby rotation and occasional on-site visits.
