The Operations Manager is an integral role in the DVSA Corporate Senior Leadership Team, accountable for the national delivery of operational services to meet customer expectations.

The post holder will lead operations delivery teams of 250-300 staff through supporting managers. They will ensure service delivery is efficient, effective, and of high quality, providing value for money for both the customer and DVSA.
They will ensure effective planning so staff understand and meet technical and quality standards, leading teams responsible for operational processes and procedures. This role directly impacts road safety outcomes.
The post holder will also contribute to development and business improvement initiatives within DVSA, ensuring customer needs are central to decision-making. They will manage performance, champion development, and act as a link to the Service Directorate, providing operational insights to support business improvements and ensure quality standards are maintained.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Providing leadership with influence, clear direction, and guidance to support objective achievement. Establishing a strong vision and managing with honesty and integrity.
* Leading the operational delivery of vehicle testing across regional networks, ensuring consistent, quality service.
* Ensuring networks meet operational standards, quality expectations, service levels, and business targets.
* Maintaining effective communication and engagement with staff and management teams.
* Developing operational plans to deliver high-quality, cost-effective services.
* Driving improvements through QA and audits, adopting best practices, and promoting continuous improvement.
* Collaborating with the Performance & Delivery Manager and other CSLs on strategic planning.
* Acting as a liaison for specific services, working closely with the Head of Service to address issues, legislation, and improvements.
* Coordinating with internal departments to meet customer needs and communicating these requirements effectively.
