Joinery Workshop Manager (Heritage) required in Essex
GVR Solutions are currently with a long standing and well-established client of ours who specialise in Heritage projects across London and East Anglia. They are currently seeking an experienced Joinery Workshop Manager to join their team. As a workshop Manager, you will need to be hand on manager who has a real skill in craftsmanship. You will be heavily involved in heritage projects therefore having a real passion for English architecture is highly important.
Responsibilities of the Joinery Workshop Manager are:
* Manage the day-to-day operations of a busy bespoke joinery workshop.
* Lead and support a small, experienced and diverse joinery team.
* Communicate and liaise directly with clients, architects, internal project managers and other contractors.
* Conduct site visits to survey, measure, advise, and prepare and send quotations for the required works.
* Identify and advise on building/joinery defects and propose workable, cost-effective solutions.
* Provide expert technical advice on timber, joinery processes, manufacturing and joinery craftsmanship
* Plan the joinery workload and workshop, issuing regular and accurate joinery works programmes and keeping to deadlines.
* Manage stock levels whilst securing the best deals and best products with suppliers.
* Manage bench joiners to ensure they produce quality items in compliance with the company QA processes, project specifications and within budget and programme.
* Carry out budget reports, forecasting and profitability reports and working to projected turnover targets.
* Attend regular monthly meetings with Directors.
* Liaison with marketing team including input into the marketing and development of the joinery business
As a Joinery Workshop Manager, you must have/be:
* Experienced/qualified carpenter & joiner.
* A skilled craftsman
* A working knowledge of fixed wood working machines and maintenance requirements.
* Proficient in producing detailed section drawings by hand.
* Be up to date with current Health & safety regulations and have a knowledge of the Building Safety Act
* Be able to keep regular and accurate records.
* Computer literate, using Microsoft Office and Outlook.
* Possess a full and clean UK driving licence.
* Possess great communication skills at all levels.
* Be a good team leader and be able to make decisions and work under pressure.
