Senior Site Ecologist
Location: Manchester and surrounding areas, remote working available.

About the role
A leading international infrastructure company and principal contractor is seeking a Senior Site Ecologist to join their Highways team on their Northern projects
What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Ecology Technical Specialist and project leads, the Senior Site Ecologist will perform the following key activities:
- Work closely with the project Environmental Manager
- Lead on delivery of project ecological requirements
- Develop and implement ecological management plans
- Build and maintain relationships with regulators, clients and design teams, and internal teams
- Ensure site compliance with ecological legislation and coach construction teams in applying controls and mitigations in pragmatic, cost-effective ways
- Ensure the company environmental management system is maintained in line with changing standards and legislation and liaise with senior team lead on changes required
- Lead investigations and report on ecological incidents
- Provide pragmatic advice and site support to operational teams on ecological requirements
Who we're looking for
The following qualities/experience are essential:
- Excellent knowledge of ecological management and mitigation
- Excellent understanding of ecological legalisation for development
- Good level of commercial awareness
- Full driver's licence and flexibility to travel
- Good understanding of environmental management for construction sites
- Good understanding of the utilities/construction/engineering operating environment
- Literate in MS Office - Word, Excel, Outlook
- Excellent communication skills
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
- Experience of working on large scale infrastructure construction projects
- Educated to degree in Ecology or related subject
- At least one protected species survey licence, preferably hazel dormouse or bat level 1 or 2
- Full CIEEM Membership
