We are seeking a highly skilled Sinhalese interpreter to bridge communication barriers in a variety of high-stakes environments. While this role's primary emphasis is on legal proceedings, we welcome applications from those with expertise in any professional field. The ideal candidate will possess native-level fluency in English and Sinhalese, exceptional listening and memory skills, and a deep understanding of legal and cultural nuances. Your work will be crucial in ensuring accurate, confidential, and effective dialogue across different sectors.
Key Responsibilities
* Interpret accurately in a variety of settings, with a focus on legal matters such as court hearings, depositions, and client-attorney meetings.
* Perform both consecutive and simultaneous interpreting, as required by the situation.
* Uphold strict confidentiality and neutrality, especially in sensitive legal situations.
* Clearly and accurately convey all information, including legal, technical, and other specialized terminology.
* Bridge cultural differences and linguistic barriers to ensure mutual understanding among all parties.
* Prepare for assignments by researching specific case details, subject matter, and any relevant background information.
Qualifications
* Proven experience as an interpreter, with a strong portfolio or client references.
* Exceptional listening, memory, and concentration abilities.
* Interpreting qualification like CIL2, 3, 4 or DPSI.
Preferred Qualifications
* Specialized expertise in legal matters, including familiarity with legal terminology and court procedures.
* Experience in other professional sectors, such as medical, technical, or financial services.
* Professional certification from a recognized interpreting body.
