Alternative Provision (11–19)
Location: Burnley
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Salary: Dependent on skills and experience
We are seeking a committed and resilient Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our Alternative Provision in Burnley, supporting young people aged 11–19. Our provision works with pupils who have found it difficult to thrive in a mainstream setting, and we are proud to offer a supportive, inclusive environment where every learner is given the opportunity to succeed.

The Role
Working under the direction of the class teacher or Head of Department, you will:
* Implement planning and assessment to support learning and accelerated pupil progress
* Work with individuals and small groups of pupils to raise attainment and engagement
* Support pupils to overcome barriers to learning, including communication, behaviour, social and emotional needs
* Promote inclusion and independence, helping pupils to develop social skills and take responsibility for their learning
* Monitor, evaluate and report on the impact of class-based interventions
* Provide supervision, guidance and learning opportunities during non-lesson-based activities
* Take responsibility for agreed learning activities, complementing the professional work of teachers
Job Requirements
We are looking for someone who has:
* Experience of working with children and young people in an educational setting, particularly those facing barriers to learning
* Experience of assessing pupil needs and using specialist skills to improve attendance and behaviour
* Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach
* The ability to build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with pupils
* A Child Care, NVQ, HLTA or other relevant qualification (Level 4 or above), or willingness to work towards this within 12 months
* Experience of planning, preparing and delivering support programmes for individuals or small groups
* Excellent knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practices and procedures
* Experience of working with parents/carers and external agencies to support pupil progress
