Geospatial Data Scientist Role (Junior & Senior)
Overview:
BirdsEyeView is an InsurTech venture based in London. We develop Natural Catastrophe Modelling software for reinsurance and insurers globally. Our software helps model floods, wildfires, cyclones, and more.
The ecosystem includes climate data infrastructure, scalable development, and machine learning for data cleansing and ingestion, aiding underwriters to assess climate risks.
About the role:
You will support the development of the Natural Peril features for our WEATHER ANALYTIX platform, which offers climate and weather analytics to insurance partners to assess natural catastrophe exposures.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the strategy and implementation of the WEATHER ANALYTIX platform.
2. Process meteorological datasets via our partnership with the European Space Agency.
3. Develop models for wildfires, hurricanes, tornados, lightning, earthquakes, and floods.
4. Collaborate with Business Development to define and deliver new products.
5. Select and implement suitable technology solutions.
6. Qualifications:
7. Bachelor's in Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, or related; Master’s preferred.
8. 4+ years experience for Mid/Snr, 2+ years for Jnr/Mid roles.
9. Proficiency in Python, experience with large geospatial datasets, knowledge of statistical modeling, understanding web system architecture, and strong project management skills.
10. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Nice to Have:
* Experience with JIRA, Confluence, GitLab, AWS
* Experience with ERA5/Climate Data
* MLOps experience
* Knowledge of the Insurance Market
Compensation:

* Role for 1 Junior/Mid (2+ years) and 1 Mid/Snr (4+ years).
