At CTS, we’re passionate about building strong customer relationships and delivering smart, technical solutions. We’re looking for an External Sales Engineer to help grow our business across the North West by supporting both new and existing customers and contributing to our wider business goals.
You’ll be responsible for managing and developing your own sales territory, balancing customer engagement with strategic planning to deliver sustainable growth. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Planning and prioritising your sales activities to achieve agreed targets, while managing your time and workload effectively
2. Preparing customer proposals, including pricing and commercial considerations
3. Generating proposals for renewing, extending, or adapting existing contracts
4. Conducting site surveys and providing technical advice to customers and prospects
5. Building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with customers at all levels
6. Ensuring an excellent standard of after-sales service
7. Accurately recording customer visits, actions, and outcomes, and contributing to sales performance analysis
8. Delivering customer presentations to support sales and enhance the CTS brand
9. Collaborating with colleagues across CTS and the wider group to coordinate activities and secure opportunities
10. Monitoring activity and providing clear, timely updates to management
11. Attending sales meetings and following up on agreed actions
To succeed, you will need
We welcome applications from people with a variety of backgrounds. To succeed in this role, you’ll ideally have:
12. Proven experience in a sales or customer-facing role
13. A technical background or qualification is beneficial, but not essential, if you bring strong sales experience, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn, we’ll support your technical development
14. Experience or knowledge of the compressed air industry is desirable, but not required
15. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across the North West, with occasional travel to other UK locations
16. Strong IT skills and an openness to learning new systems
17. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
18. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your time effectively
