Can you spare a couple of hours a month to check in with some of the people we support? We are looking for volunteers to make phone calls to people we support with a learning disability, and who are members of our Mencap Visiting Service.
What will you be doing?
* You will be calling up to 10 people who are registered with Mencap Visiting Service but waiting to be matched with a visitor.
* You will be making monthly calls to either the person we would normally visit or their support staff.
* You will be calling them until we match them with a visitor.
* We would like you to ask a few simple question about how the person we support is doing and coping at the moment. We will provide guidance to help you with this.
* After each call you will complete a short online form with an update about each person you have contacted. We will make sure you have received full training to do this before you start.
As a Keeping Connected Telephone Volunteer you will be:
* Friendly and Approachable
* Reliable, Kind and Patient
* A good communicator (including listener)
* Willing to volunteer within guidelines and to take direction where necessary
* Accepting of others who might be different to yourself
