What you bring As a Trainee Train Driver with ScotRail, you will participate in our 12 - 18 month training programme which is a blended-learning approach including both classroom and practical learning via our Training Academy and on-the-job training with a Driver Instructor. Our training programme will equip you with the necessary skills, experience and knowledge to become a first-class Train Driver. To become a Trainee Train Driver with ScotRail you need to demonstrate the following: * Good Time Management - ScotRail’s customers rely on our trains to be on time every time so our Drivers can’t be late for their shift. * Excellent Communication – the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders including customers and articulate technical language within time-sensitive environments. * Problem-solving - a proactive approach with the ability to adapt to different situations and provide solutions whilst adhering to policy and procedure. * Resilience – the ability to work autonomously for long-periods of time and take accountability to make decisions within a time sensitive environment. * Initiative – the ability to work effectively on your own and respond to different challenges throughout the working day. Please note - in adherence with regulatory guidelines, Trainee Train Drivers need to be a minimum of 20 years old at the time of commencing their training. Selection process Prior to the assessment stages all applications are sifted based on the following criteria: * Home address is within a 45-minute commutable distance of the depot location. * Minimum age restriction of 20 years at training commencement date is met. * The maximum attempts at the Driver Assessment have not been exceeded. To ensure we recruit the right people for our Trainee Driver roles, we conduct a thorough assessment process in line with regulatory guidelines and candidates need to pass each of the following stages: * Online psychometric assessment. * Part 1 assessment centre (approximately 3 hours in our Glasgow HQ). * Competency-based interview at the location you have applied for. * Part 2 assessment centre (approximately 5 hours in our Glasgow HQ).
