The role

The RCOT’s Practice, Innovation and Advocacy Directorate exists to ensure occupational therapy has a strong, credible and influential voice in the UK and beyond. We’re now looking for a creative and strategic social media specialist to lead how we engage with audiences, grow our influence and bring our voice to life on social media.

As Social Media Lead, you will lead and deliver RCOT’s social media activity – combining standout content with clear strategic direction to grow engagement and impact with our members and priority audiences.

Reporting to the Head of Profile and Campaigns, you will play a key role in strengthening our reputation, supporting advocacy and campaigns and ensuring our social media channels contribute to shaping national conversations, while building a more connected and engaged member community.

You Will

  • develop and deliver social media plans that support RCOT’s campaigns, advocacy and member engagement priorities
  • create high-quality, engaging content across key platforms – including LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook
  • drive audience growth and engagement through insight-led and creative approaches
  • manage and evolve RCOT’s social media channels – ensuring a strong and consistent voice
  • use analytics and insights to optimise performance and inform future activity
  • manage our reputation on social media, including monitoring risk and responding to emerging issues

You Bring

  • strong experience managing social media in a complex organisation
  • a track record of using social media to support campaigns, influencing and advocacy objectives
  • excellent content creation and storytelling skills across formats, including copy, video, imagery and user-generated content
  • deep understanding of social media platforms, trends, algorithms and performance metrics alongside experience managing reputational risk and real-time engagement

Why this role?

This is a unique opportunity to shape how RCOT shows up in the world, leading our social media presence to influence conversations, champion the profession and connect with a growing community. You will play a pivotal role in amplifying the impact of occupational therapy, helping more people understand the life‑changing difference it makes every day.
