Job Summary

Swissport is undertaking one of its most complex global transformations through several strategic initiatives around productivity, workforce management and commercial areas. Regions have local delivery teams working in close collaboration with the central team to drive implementation of global software solutions and value release after solution is in place. The programme requires strong global coordination across regions and suppliers, consistent governance, and central delivery management to succeed.

We are hiring a Global Programme Manager to work with regional PMs, senior stakeholders, and suppliers to support global rollouts, continuous improvement, and value delivery. The role will strengthen governance and PMO, manage central delivery and backlog, and drive consistent standards and reporting across regions to improve delivery quality and decision-making. Most of your focus will be on new rollouts and value, with a smaller portion on continuous improvement in live markets. Strong governance and process orientation are critical. This role offers the opportunity to program manage one of the key initiatives at Swissport and work directly with senior leaders and suppliers to shape next wave of, and shape global transformation of Swissport.

Job responsibilities

1) Governance & PMO: establish and run global programme management office

1. Review and refine a global programme management office to coordinate rollouts, continuous improvements, and value delivery.
2. Review and refine governance processes: forums, agendas, calendars, templates, minutes, decisions, actions, RAID, change control.
3. Develop and work with regional PMs and programme heads to embed standard templates for key forums (progress, priorities, decisions, risks/mitigations, Regional Weekly meetings, SteerCos).
4. Create and maintain programme documents and artefacts (. team rosters, RACI, decision logs, go-live checklists).

2) Regional delivery: align regional PMs and escalate cross-region risks

5. Build strong working relationships with regional PMs and programme heads.
6. Define the reporting model with regional PMs and embed governance standards.
7. Track and escalate cross-region dependencies and decisions requiring central resolution (. resources, standardisation, timelines).
8. Analyse progress and trends across regions, identify issues, and recommend corrective actions.

3) Central delivery & backlog: manage central workstreams and continuous improvement

9. Manage central workstreams (. standard integrations, reporting, processes, roles standardisation).
10. Lead global forums and document decisions and actions, including standards boards to protect global consistency and manage scope/change requests.
11. Own the continuous improvement backlog from live regions; triage, prioritise, schedule, and drive to completion.
12. Share best practices on governance and programme management across the group.

4) Reporting & insights: provide timely, accurate programme reporting

13. Prepare weekly and monthly global project updates in collaboration with regions and the global ELT.
14. Compile and maintain a consolidated portfolio view of the projects and rollouts.
15. Ensure consistency, accuracy, and timeliness in reporting outputs.

Qualifications & competencies­­

Experience (5–7 years):

16. Experience in global multi-country programme/project management in industries with large workforce, operations-focused, safety/standards critical, regulated,. airilnes, aviation, transport, industrial/energy, etc.
17. Experience in implementation of global software solutions, ERP, HRIS, Workforce mgmt., etc.
18. Strong background in PMO and governance: establishing and running a programme mgmt. office.
19. Experience working with regional PMs and senior stakeholders to align local and global delivery.
20. Vendor/supplier management and cross-functional delivery (IT, HR, Finance, Ops).­­
21. Proficiency in PMO practices: plans, RAID, change control, gates, executive reporting.
22. Proven track record in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, escalating issues and ensuring deadlines are met.
23. Experience in business transformation and change management is a plus.

Skills:

24. Strong planning and orchestration; builds practical, scalable governance mechanisms.
25. Stakeholder management with executive presence; clear, concise communication.
26. Proficiency with delivery tools (Smartsheet, Jira, Box, PowerPoint, Excel).
27. Working knowledge of integrations/data is an advantage (APIs, middleware, system implementation lifecycle) to challenge and unblock; coding not required.
28. Ability to analyse trends and identify early warning signals across large, multi-region programmes.
