They manufacture precision engineered parts for aerospace customers (mainly precision fabrication and machining) and are looking for a Project Lead/Manufacturing Engineer to join their growing team. You will Support the “internal customer” (Manufacturing Manager) by sharing agreed objectives on EHS, Quality, Cost and Delivery and participating in the Operational Control model.

Job Description
Ensure that a motivational approach is provided to all team members. For example, ensuring that the working environment is satisfactory and allows every team member to effectively perform their role.
Implement and/or project manage the NPDI process through the defined gated process. Providing detailed and clear plans on achieving customer requirements.
Control the standard of manufacturing documentation such as set-up packs, stage drawings, work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), etc
Take accountability for the relevant milestones in the NPDI gated process and fulfilling all engineering tasks defined in that process (eg: prepare cost estimates, producing stage drawings, creating manufacturing routes, gaining customer approval, etc).
Develop a continuous improvement “pipeline” of activities by supporting LEAN Events and generating individual ideas to improve EHS, Quality, Cost and Delivery performance around the NPDI process. For example, by developing tooling strategies to reduce tooling usage and cost, developing actions to reduce process cycle times and improve productivity/throughput, developing actions to eliminate quality defects.
Apply problem-solving methodologies to define and solve problems at root cause as a method of improving operational performance, in particular on process capability and quality problems.
Implement and/or project manage problem solutions through (but not limited to) working with external suppliers, working with customers, proving out improved technologies and programmes, completing Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) activities, etc.

Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications
Experience leading NPI/NPDI projects.
Knowledge of pressing/forming, or EDM manufacturing processes.
Well-versed carrying out a range of manufacturing engineering tasks such as preparing cost estimates, producing stage drawings, creating manufacturing routes, gaining customer approval etc
Experience working within the industrial gas turbine/power generation, aerospace, or automotive
