The role
At NEXT, our legal team is a small, close-knit group that plays a vital role in our success. We aren't just here to review documents; we are respected partners who help the business navigate complex frameworks with a pragmatic and commercial approach.
As we continue to grow through our Total Platform partnerships—supporting iconic brands like Victoria's Secret, Reiss, and Gap—we have an opportunity for a knowledgeable Commercial Contracts Lawyer to join us. This role is perfect for a person who enjoys a fast pace, varied projects and a supportive environment where you can truly develop your expertise.
What you'll take on
Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will take responsibility for a wide range of legal matters that keep our global operations moving.
* Commercial Agreements: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including concession and licensing agreements, SaaS, consultancy, and purchasing terms.
* Brand Collaboration: Work across our diverse portfolio of brands, handling everything from standard templates to high-profile celebrity endorsement agreements.
* Generalist Legal Support: Get involved in intellectual property (IP), consumer law, and regulatory work, providing clear and purposeful guidance to the business.
* Business Protection: Manage confidentiality agreements, IP licenses, and potentially support on data privacy, compliance, and commercial litigation.
* Strategic Partnership: Act as a bridge between legal requirements and business goals, helping our "internal clients" achieve their objectives safely and efficiently.
*
What you'll bring
We are looking for a qualified solicitor from either private practice or in-house background, who is ready to work at pace and has an appetite for learning new areas of law.
Essential Criteria:
* Qualifications: A qualified solicitor with a minimum of 2 years Post Qualification Experience (PQE) gained in-house or in private practice.
* Drafting Skills: Demonstrable experience in reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts.
* Adaptability: A genuine interest in taking on generalist legal work outside of your immediate specialism.
* Communication: An inspiring communicator who can build strong relationships across the business and explain complex legal points with clarity.
* Resilience: The ability to work to tight timescales, at pace, while maintaining high standards and attention to detail.
