Job Description

TITLE: Maintenance Technician

DEPARTMENT: Technical Services

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Operations Supervisor

WORK PATTERNS: 42 hours per week on a rotating 4 on/4 off rotating shift pattern

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:

enable the delivery of a high quality, reliable service to passengers, tenants and other internal / external customers, through effective and efficient maintenance of airport assets. This includes completion of work in accordance with prevailing LLAOL processes & contributing towards the continuous improvement of the maintenance service.

To work as part of a team providing planned, preventative and reactive maintenance services to airport plant, systems, equipment and facilities.

Technicians may be required to monitor the work quality of contract maintenance providers and act as a “mentor/buddy” for LLAOL staff including apprentice and graduate trainees.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

* Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on engineering assets to ensure optimum serviceability, consistent service levels, and a reliable, trouble‑free operational environment, applying the appropriate skills and technical knowledge.
* Conduct detailed fault-finding on mechanical systems, identifying root causes and recommending improvements to prevent recurrence.
* Maintain strong communication with Shift Supervisors and the Senior Mechanical Engineer to ensure priority tasks are completed promptly and to a high standard.
* Provide first-line plumbing support in the absence of the plumbing team, which may include clearing foul drains.
* Use LLAOL IT and asset management systems, including receiving and closing assigned work orders, and utilising system data to understand performance at individual, team, and asset levels.
* Ensure all engineering and operational records are completed and maintained in line with business, regulatory, and manufacturer requirements.
* Operate and promote working practices which ensure a safe working environment for self and others, contributing to the development of a safety culture and adhering to mandatory regulations & safety procedures.
* Actively participate in performance improvement activities within the engineering environment.
* Maintain world‑class plant rooms by ensuring excellent housekeeping standards and proactively implementing improvements.
* Continuously develop technical skills to support the maintenance and operation of new and existing assets.
* Prepare materials lists and obtain supplier quotations to support the procurement of goods and materials, including the management of onsite spares.
* Proactively identify and report any health and safety concerns or unsafe working practices to the Maintenance Operations Supervisor and the Shift Supervisor.
* Support improvement and upgrade initiatives for LLA mechanical systems in collaboration with the Senior Mechanical Engineer.
* Contribute to delivering a great guest experience by performing your role with accuracy and efficiency. Recognising that every task whether guest facing or behind the scenes contributes to supporting the company’s overall LLA Way Strategy and service standards.
* Proactively and positively promote the LLA Way initiatives and projects with all employees and the wider airport community.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

The candidate will have a positive outlook and attitude, will be capable of identifying and resolving problems and possess good organisational skills. As a prospective candidate, you will be capable of working on your own initiative as well as part of a team. You will be task oriented, able to communicate well with all stakeholders, be customer focused and capable of delivering excellent service against agreed organisational objectives.

* We are looking for flexible, creative and enthusiastic individuals with a good working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
* Educated to a minimum of BTEC ONC/HNC in appropriate engineering discipline.
* Able to demonstrate that through formal training or apprenticeship schemes and / or practical experience has gained underpinning technical knowledge and skills in engineering.
* Experienced with commercial / domestic gas and oil heating installations
* Gas safe registration desirable but not essential.
* Ensure work is completed “Right First Time”
* Accurately record works on required paperwork and web based system ensuring the right information is fed back to manager
* Must have good interpersonal skills when dealing with representatives of service partners and other LLAOL departments.
* Must be physically fit and possess high levels of teamwork and communication skills.
* Commitment to working as part of a team and working on own initiative
* Challenges existing standards with a view to improving them
* Full clean driving licence.
* Electrical qualifications/experience desirable but not essential.
