Overview
They are looking for an enthusiastic worker who gets on well in a team. You will be handling young stock, so you must be competent handling horses. A fantastic opportunity for someone that shows an interest in breeding. Aston Mullins is a beautiful farm in a tranquil village in the Vale of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. It has two businesses running side by side, a Thoroughbred Stud and an Eventing Yard, so there is masses of experience to gain.
This is a great opportunity for a level 2/3 equine apprentice to get stuck in with the daily running of the stud, including, but not limited to;
Responsibilities
* Mucking out
* Turning out/bringing in
* Tacking up and tack cleaning
* Feeding and filling hay nets
* Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
* Bathing and rug changing
* First aid
* Exercising horses from the ground (lunging, horse walker, long reining, pessoa training etc.)
* Holding for vet/farrier/dentist
Training
All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours. Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach.
Qualifications required
* GCSE Level 4/ Grade C in Maths and English, or a willingness to complete equivalent functional skills.
Skills required
* Previous experience working with horses is essential.
* A reference will be required.
Prospects
* Possibility of a full-time position for the right candidate
* Progression to the Level 3 Senior Groom Apprenticeship
