I am 14-year-old with autism and I’m looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to access social and community activities and promote my independence.
I am sociable, enjoy being outdoors, visiting the park, and going to the shops. I would like to expand my activities to include attending the gym and participating in a variety of activities within the community. A Personal Assistant is required who is patient, reliable, flexible, and able to adapt to changes in routine or planned activities.
Main Duties:
* Providing support after school during the week and during weekends/school holidays as required
* Supporting access to social, leisure, and community activities
* Accompanying the young person to activities such as the gym and park
* Encouraging independence and confidence both within the home and in the community
* Supporting with showering routines to develop independence with personal care
* Supporting with food preparation to develop confidence and independence in the kitchen
* Supporting with routines, communication, and engagement in activities as appropriate
* Ensuring the young person’s safety and wellbeing at all times
Essential Qualities:
* Caring, supportive, and understanding nature
* Flexible and reliable
* Ability to build a positive working relationship
* Experience or understanding of autism is desirable
Driver Requirement:
It would be advantageous for the Personal Assistant to hold a full driving licence and have access to their own vehicle with appropriate insurance.
Hours:
Hourly rate: £13.45
Initially 10 hours per week.
Additional hours may be available during weekends and school holidays.
Days and times to be arranged flexibly.
An enhanced DBS check may be required.
