NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff and delivering a range of services to a population over 1.15 million.
Position Overview
This 10-session inpatient/outpatient post operates during the 9am-5pm shift, Monday to Friday, with an additional On Call Rota. The post is based in Inverclyde Royal Hospital (in‑patients) and Crown House, Greenock (out‑patients).
Roles and Responsibilities
Each consultant manages their own caseload, with in-patients allocated on a rotational basis. The department has 3.0 WTE consultant psychiatrists, 1 WTE SAS doctor and GP, foundation and core trainees attached on rotation. There is a well-established local division group that meets regularly and strong links with colleagues across sub-specialties.
Qualifications and Registration
* Full GMC Registration and a valid licence to practise.
* Eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register.
* UK-trained candidates must provide evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview.
* CESR route doctors are eligible only after CESR is awarded.
* Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Working Hours and Flexibility
Full-time post on a 10 PA basis. Applicants wishing to work less than full-time will also be considered. Up to 2 EPAs may be available to undertake additional outpatient or procedure sessions or management activity.
Professional Development Activities
Core job plan includes a minimum of 1 Core Supporting Professional Activity (SPA) covering CPD, audit, clinical governance, appraisal, revalidation, job planning and management meetings. An additional non-DCC PA will form part of the core job plan for professional clinical development.
