A full-time, temporary (maternity cover) Floating Support Worker for our Young persons service in the Neath area. Working predominantly office hours Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with some flexibility as the role requires.

About the role
This Outreach project linked to Clarewood Neath recruits and supports young people at risk of homelessness. It works with key organisations to identify support required, prevent homelessness, and develop skills needed to maintain tenancies, change negative behaviour, maintain health and wellbeing, progress to independent living, and make appropriate decisions. The role is varied and involves working with stakeholders and external organisations to find vulnerable young people and provide information and support.
Day-to-day duties
* Work with people to truly make a difference in their life.
* Carry a caseload of between 10 and 17 customers with a variety of differing needs.
* Record customer support and store key information for quarterly monitoring collection purposes.
* Provide housing-related support to enable young people to take on and/or sustain a tenancy to prevent homelessness.
* Liaise with other agencies and professionals to identify and recruit young homeless/threatened persons’ support needs (e.g., NPT College, Social Services, Health Services, Housing Options/NPT Gateway, Landlords and Lettings Agencies).
* Offer appropriate levels of support in a sensitive manner, taking into account emotional and intellectual needs, respecting choice and privacy.
Skills and experience
* Relevant work experience and knowledge of issues relating to vulnerable people is essential.
* It is essential that you hold a driving licence and have access to a car.
* A passion to work with and enable people to live as independently as possible.
* An enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to people’s lives.
* A strong initiative and the ability to work alone as well as being a great team player.
* Ability to deal with conflicting and difficult situations.

* £24,531.00 FTE (£12.75 per hour).
