An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time (37.5 hours/week) Clinical Nurse Specialist in Cystic Fibrosis. We are seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic, forward-thinking adult-trained nurses to join the multidisciplinary Cystic Fibrosis Centre team based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.
Applicants are required to hold a current 1st level registration with the NMC on part 1 or part 12 of the NMC register. We welcome applicants without previous CF experience who have other relevant clinical backgrounds. Applicants should be able to demonstrate how they would apply their previous experience to this role. Relevant backgrounds include respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, intensive care, oncology, diabetes, adolescent medicine, high dependency nursing, etc. Experience in caring for young people and adolescents through their lifespan is also valued.
The role involves developing a highly specialised knowledge base in CF nursing care, including genetics, pathophysiology, adolescent health issues, nutrition, palliative care, transplantation, and multi-system impacts of CF.
Successful applicants will have opportunities to develop their clinical expertise across community and secondary care settings through formal and informal training, supporting the delivery of a seamless CF and non-CF bronchiectasis nursing service aimed at improving patient care and facilitating multidisciplinary working. This includes clinical practice, management, education, research, audit, and professional activities, all within the framework of clinical governance.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will work alongside senior colleagues and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate services for adolescents and adults with CF.
