The post-holder will be the named School Nurse for schools within the area. This role will incorporate a supervisory role for staff nurses working within the school nursing service.
The post holder will work as a member of the School Nursing Service and will collaborate with schools, families, and the wider community to improve the health of school-aged children. This includes identifying vulnerable children and developing clear referral pathways to ensure all children and young people can reach their full potential.
This will be achieved by delivering the requirements from the service specification. The post holder will work closely with the identified senior manager in each school, providing expert information, guidance, and assessments as needed.
They will support schools in empowering parents and children & young people (CYP) to make decisions affecting their health and wellbeing. The post holder will collaborate with health and education professionals and institutions, breaking down barriers to improve information sharing, ideas, and expertise.
Working with the Team Lead, they will develop appropriate databases and contribute to reports, highlighting any issues or concerns that may arise.
As a highly motivated and dynamic school nurse, you will play a key role in shaping our services, committed to meeting the health needs of children and young people through the delivery of the 5-19 Healthy Child Programme.
The school nurse will deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care within Bromley's schools. You will be responsible for a defined caseload of secondary schools and support junior staff managing primary schools. Applicants must hold a Specialist Community Public Health Qualification in School Nursing and have postgraduate experience working within a School Nursing team.
You must adhere to the NMC Code and maintain your professional requirements in line with revalidation procedures. Participation in continuing education and professional development is expected.
