We are looking for a caring, active, and reliable support worker to support a very loving and fun-loving 6-year-old boy who lives in the Cramlington area.
When he is settled and not experiencing extreme behaviours, he enjoys visiting soft play centres, trampoline parks, parks, and nature walks. He loves being outdoors and staying active and needs support in the community to help keep him safe and to enjoy these activities alongside someone who can engage positively with him.
At present, due to periods of challenging behaviour and becoming easily over-stimulated, support is mainly required within the home, helping to keep him entertained with activities such as baking, crafts, and play .
This role is currently bank / emergency cover, as the hours are not permanent.
When required, shifts would usually be:
* 8 hours per week term time
* 20 hours per week school holidays
* 1 overnight per 8 weeks
* All support is 2:1
Both male and female applicants are welcome, although R does respond particularly well to male attention. Applicants must be active and alert, as he is very quick on his feet.
A driver with their own car is preferred.
He is a very affectionate child who loves attention and having fun. He is currently experiencing increased challenging behaviours and may occasionally hit out. You would never be left alone with him, and support would always be alongside a parent or another staff member.
Experience with children with additional needs and challenging behaviour is desirable, but a calm, patient, and positive attitude is essential.
