Role: HR & Payroll Assistant
Salary: up to £30,500

Reports to: HR Manager.
We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented HR & Payroll Officer to join a busy and collaborative HR team. This dual-function role offers the opportunity to provide both day-to-day HR support and end-to-end payroll processing for a diverse workforce.
Reporting to the HR Manager, you’ll work closely with colleagues, line managers, and payroll software providers to ensure seamless service delivery, legal compliance, and employee satisfaction across both HR and payroll functions.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a point of contact for HR queries and provide admin support across the employee lifecycle
Coordinate onboarding, leavers, contracts, and employee records
Prepare and process weekly/monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy and timely payments
Calculate pay changes, bonuses, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.)
Submit payroll returns (FPS, RTI, pensions) and resolve payroll queries
Support HR meetings, recruitment admin, and benefits processes
Maintain data accuracy and compliance with GDPR and payroll legislation What You’ll Need

Strong understanding of PAYE, NI, and statutory requirements
