The starting salary for this role £33,552 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.

We are excited to be hiring a Senior Social Care Assistant to join our fantastic adult social care team. This post is co-located with our health colleagues in the i-access substance misuse team in Chertsey, however, the team provides countywide service, and as such supports agile working.

About the Role

This is a rewarding opportunity to work with disadvantaged individuals with substance misuse problems across Surrey, who may be struggling to engage with housing and benefits services.

In this role you will provide a social care service in line with the Care Act, contributing to and completing proportionate Adult Social Care Assessments and Support Plans as required.

Your key responsibilities as a Senior Social Care Assistant will include:

9. Working in partnership with individuals, carers and professional staff in other agencies to ensure that i-access and Social Care service users can understand and access their full benefits entitlements under Universal Credit and PIP, and navigate appeals processes where necessary
10. Supporting individuals to apply and register for housing
11. Working with individuals at risk of eviction or homelessness to maintain their tenancies

This is an unqualified opportunity, at Senior Social Care Assistant level, which should appeal to current Social Care Assistant, STR, Healthcare Assistants looking to progress and gain further expertise.

You will be provided with clear professional leadership, regular supervision and opportunities for career development.

Your Application

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with :

12. An understanding of substance misuse or mental health services, including assessment
13. Experience of direct working with people with substance misuse and/or mental health issues
14. Working knowledge of the Care Act and housing legislation
15. Flexibility to work in a challenging environment with the ability to practice independently and autonomously
16. Commitment to your own professional development

This is a countywide role and at times will require working beyond the borders of Surrey, which has both urban and rural areas. Social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK, access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area. Reasonable adjustments where needed will be made for successful applicants who have a disability or long term health condition to enable them to fulfil the requirements of the job.
