Job Description
We are recruiting an experienced HGV Workshop Technician / Mechanic to join our skilled team. Reporting to the Vehicle Maintenance Unit Manager, you will work in a time-critical distribution environment with key responsibilities including:
* Servicing and maintaining DPD’s fleet of approximately 1500 Mercedes Benz tractor units and 2700 trailers.
* Fault diagnostics on vehicles.
* MOT preparation.
* Weekly/monthly checks of HGV vehicles.
* Mechanical and electrical repairs.
* Since November 2022, over 60% of our HGV fleet uses Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO).
Qualifications
About You
The ideal candidate will have experience working with Heavy Goods Vehicles or Heavy Plant machinery, or possess knowledge of yellow goods repairs. Qualification-wise, a Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or being a time-served technician is preferred.
You should have experience working on Mercedes, DAF, Dennis, Volvo, and Renault vehicles. Demonstrating DPD's core values—Passion, Respect, Honesty, Flexibility, Caring, and Accountability—is essential.
An irtech licence is advantageous but not mandatory; training can be provided. An LGV Class 1 Driving Licence is desirable but not essential.
