Salary Range: £23,742 FTE: 1 (35 hours/week) Contract Type: Fixed Term (24 months) The Chemical and Process Engineering Department research uses advances in science and mathematics to develop solutions to challenges faced by industry and society. These challenges include manufacturing medicines, delivering clean water and providing renewable energy. The Department's research areas from the controlled assembly of nanostructured materials to the design of advanced reactors, and from combating global warming with novel energy storage and gas separation technology to understanding protein aggregation in degenerative diseases. We have strong links with other engineering and science departments both within Strathclyde and externally. We also work with many industrial partners. The Department seeks to appoint a modern apprentice who can provide technical support to our teaching and research. Working as part of a team, duties will include setting up equipment, preparing solutions and assisting students in locating materials or equipment that they may require. The majority of work will be planned a day or two in advance by the line manager or senior technician. Minimum of 4 Nat 5’s at A, B and C (or equivalent) which must include English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The Modern Apprenticeship programme is co-ordinated within the University and gives the successful candidate an opportunity to “earn and learn” as they will achieve a SQA qualification during the 2 year programme.
