Summary
Role
Freedom Networks is currently recruiting a Senior Business Development Manager – DNO to support the growth of the Networks business by increasing awareness of the organisation's capabilities and expanding our share of the DNO market. Your focus will be on building strong relationships and increasing framework opportunities.
Working closely with the Key Account Director and Regional Director, you will play a key role in developing new business with National Grid, Western Power Distribution, and other DNOs, while managing existing relationships to drive growth across our regional portfolio.
The ideal candidate will have strong DNO relationship experience and an excellent understanding of end-user DNO requirements.
This position is based in the North, preferably near Leeds.
Key responsibilities include:
* Maintaining and developing existing customer relationships through appropriate propositions and ethical sales methods to maximize value and margins.
* Working with DNOs, specifically NPg and SPEN, to ensure frameworks are in place to maximize opportunities.
* Expanding relationships with existing customers by proposing solutions that meet their objectives and engaging all key stakeholders.
* Developing new markets and customers aligned with Networks BD Strategy.
* Managing tenders and PQQs to ensure timely and high-quality submissions.
* Planning and managing your business portfolio/territory according to market development strategies.
* Promoting cross-selling within Freedom Networks and fostering inter-business relationships.
* Monitoring market and competitor activities and providing relevant reports.
* Attending and presenting at external customer meetings and internal cross-functional meetings.
Requirements:
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all organizational levels.
* Proven sales success in a competitive utility/contracting environment.
* Experience in opening doors and securing meetings with influential stakeholders.
* Sufficient technical knowledge to engage credibly with technically knowledgeable clients.
* Confidence in presenting to Senior Managers and Directors.
* Knowledge of electrical substation systems (e.g., transformers, switchgear) and DNO regulations (e.g., ED2).
Desirable but not essential:
* DNO authorization for substation access (support available to obtain this).
* Experience working within DNO organizations such as National Grid or Western Power Distribution.
