COMMUNITY PAEDIATRICS SPECIALTY DOCTOR (BARKING)
The post is for 10 sessions as a Specialty Doctor in the Community Paediatrics department based at the Child and Family Centre, Axe Street, Barking. The post holder will be a GMC registered clinician responsible for patients allocated to them and will assess, manage, plan and deliver care, including being professionally and legally accountable.
The post holder will support their peers and team leader and be an effective team member whilst working on their own initiative. They will supervise junior colleagues. They will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals and agencies.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work alongside 4 substantive consultants and a Specialty Doctor in the department. There is a Named Doctor for Safeguarding in the unit and a separate 0.5 WTE consultant in the Designated Safeguarding role who sits in the local CCG and provides supervision for Safeguarding to the Named Doctor in Redbridge.
The Specialty Doctor will work closely with paediatric colleagues and the multidisciplinary team to assess, manage, plan and deliver care in an integrated model. The post holder will be an effective team member while also working on their own initiative. They will supervise medical students and trainees as appropriate and will have a commitment to collaborative working with patients and carers, and actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals and agencies. Specialty doctors will be encouraged and supported to develop their skills and access further training as part of their career progression. They will be encouraged to engage in Quality Improvement activities and undertake QI projects.

Person Specification
Knowledge
* Experience of neuro-disability and neurodevelopmental paediatrics.
* Experience of examination of children where there are concerns of emotional, physical abuse and neglect.
* Approved training in Child Protection / Safeguarding at Level 3 of the Intercollegiate guidelines.
* Level 3 competencies in the Intercollegiate guidelines Knowledge, skills and competences for Looked After Children.
* Working in a multi-disciplinary team and with multi-agency partners.
GMC
* Full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
Experience
* At least 2 years General Professional Training in paediatrics.
* Experience in complex neuro-disability.
