Your typical day could start with a site inspection at a new residential development, ensuring every detail meets Peabody’s high standards. Then you might attend a handover meeting with contractors and the Development Manager to review snagging progress. Later, you’ll be uploading your inspection reports and photos to PlanRadar, before heading to another scheme to monitor construction quality and support the delivery team.
As a Construction Inspector, you’ll be at the heart of our developments, playing a crucial role in ensuring homes are built to last and meet the needs of our residents. You’ll work closely with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to uphold Peabody’s ethos of quality, longevity, and resident-centric design.
You’re a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic environment. You’ll enjoy working collaboratively with delivery teams and have a keen eye for spotting issues early. You’ll be expected to carry out inspections at least twice a week per scheme, with the flexibility to work across multiple sites. This is a field-based role, requiring regular travel and physical site access, including high-rise buildings.
This role requires a full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle and appropriate CSCS card.
Your role covers all aspects of construction monitoring including snagging and defect inspections, reviewing drawings. tracking progress and labour and ensuring compliance with Building Regulations. To be successful in this role, you’re:
* Experienced in inspecting construction works, ideally high-rise residential, new build, and refurbishment.
* Organised, with strong time management and the ability to prioritise across multiple schemes.
* Skilled in communicating clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally.
* Comfortable working at height and in challenging site conditions.
* Committed to delivering excellent customer care and continuous improvement.
What you’ll need:
* Preferably be a member of ICWCI or equivalent (CIOB, RICS, CABE) with previous experience as Clerk of Works or Site Manager.
* Have HNC/HND or equivalent in a construction-related subject or a strong trade background.
* Thorough knowledge of Building Regulations and residential construction processes.
* Able to accurately read drawings, specifications, bills of quantities and advise on performance of specific materials.
* IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and time management tools. Acquaintance with construction document management tool - PlanRadar will be an added advantage.
