Description Practice Development Executive Practice Development Executive (Projects (Energy)) Location: Any Regional UK office (excluding London) Brief We are currently looking to recruit a Practice Development Executive into our Projects (Energy) Team, based in any of our UK regional offices (excluding London). The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a paralegal, legal, research, regulatory or professional service or office environment, will be proactive and organised and will have an interest in and/or be keen to learn more about the energy sector. Background • This is an exciting opportunity to support our Energy Practice Development Lawyers (PDLs) on knowledge and practice developments in addition to providing support to the Projects and Consenting teams, the Energy Sector and client relationship teams to enhance efficiency and consistency across the firm-wide network. • The role will include maintaining internal and client-based knowledge management systems, managing and coordinating sector, team and client training programmes, monitoring and providing updates on procedure and legislative changes within the energy industry and undertaking various research tasks including drafting and assisting with client updates and bulletins. • Some of our recent Practice Development Executives have used the hands-on experience gained in their role to enhance their law degree. Main Duties and Responsibilities Knowledge Management • Liaising and collaborating with fee earners across global offices to collect and share knowhow, training and best practice. • Collating and uploading knowhow, training materials, precedents, templates and agreements into a knowledge management system. • Horizon scanning, monitoring and reporting on regulatory, legal, policy and industry developments and legislation (including public and private bills) that support the delivery of team, sector and client initiatives; summarising such developments within the energy industry in an accurate and timely manner. • Undertaking various research tasks including drafting and assisting with research papers. • Developing and maintaining the Energy Sector intranet site, databases and platforms. • Assisting in creating and maintaining knowhow and report templates. • Assisting fee earners in locating internal and external knowhow. Training • Supporting the development and delivery of internal training programmes (online and in person events) including liaising with speakers, compiling necessary materials and obtaining feedback. • Supporting the development and delivery of bespoke client training programmes including liaising with speakers, compiling necessary materials and obtaining feedback. • Assisting with the preparation of internal and external training materials. • Maintaining our online training portal to ensure all training films and materials are uploaded and categorised appropriately. Client & Sector Initiatives • Assisting with the preparation and delivery of regular legal and industry updates and publications (including circulation via multiple client-facing hubs and portals), with responsibility for collating team submissions for monthly sector and client newsletters, formatting the newsletters as appropriate and circulating within a specified deadline. • Attending, supporting at and participating in Energy Market meetings (for example taking notes, following up on relevant actions, conducting research, monitoring relevant conferences and events). • Supporting business development and thought leadership campaigns connected to the team, the Energy Sector and clients. • Supporting the preparation of regular Out-Law articles, practice team, Energy Sector and client briefings. • Supporting the Energy PDLs on the development and maintenance of client initiatives and value add services and assisting Energy Sector and client relationship teams. The Candidate Required Qualifications and Relevant Experience • Preferably educated to degree level or equivalent. • Previous experience in paralegal, legal, research, regulatory or professional service or office environment preferred. • Previous experience of SharePoint, document management systems, intranets, extranets and data site management advantageous. Key Skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Excellent organisational skills with acute attention to detail. • Self-motivated and proactive approach to drive forward a programme of activities. • Ability to achieve deadlines with a practical approach to workload and priorities. • Keen to learn new skills and to learn more about the energy sector. • IT literate with a good knowledge and high degree of competency in the use of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
