This is a hybrid role (mostly remote) open to NJ, PA, or NY only.
The primary purpose of the Billing and Coding Analyst is to review, adjust, and report on clinical trial charges and claims, working closely with Practice Management, registration, ancillary hospital departments, and third parties. This position ensures research charges are collected and posted in accordance with Medicare's Clinical Trial Policy, federal regulations, and pharmaceutical/third-party contracts.
Job Requirements
* Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science or related field (e.g., Healthcare Administration, Business, Accounting, Finance) required.
* Minimum of one (1) year of experience with CPT coding/patient financial services required.
* Working knowledge of CPT, Modifiers, ICD, and PCS required.
* At least one medical coding credential (CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H, or CPC) within one year of hire.
* One (1) to two (2) years of experience in oncology and/or clinical research preferred.
* Solid knowledge of computer software programs such as Excel, Word, and Access.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Facilitate clinical trial billing administrative start-up.
2. Track payments and billing sponsors.
3. Assist with clinical trial billing to third-party payors.
4. Ensure clinical research billing and regulatory compliance.
5. Participate in departmental and other committees as assigned.
6. Collaborate with Finance to document each clinical trial account from protocol submission to study completion.
7. Assist management with quality assurance audits of research billing.
8. Provide OnCore billing training for research staff and new hires.
9. Stay current with FDA and Medicare regulations applicable to clinical trials.
10. Maintain knowledge of policies and procedures set by RBHS, Cancer Institute of New Jersey, and relevant regulatory bodies.
11. Adhere to Rutgers compliance standards and demonstrate Rutgers’ core values.
12. Keep updated on federal, state, and institutional compliance standards.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
